JIM HODGES (1998) double sided WOOL BLANKET Peter Norton murakami warhol
Up for bid is a very beautiful woven wool blanket designed by the acclaimed American artist Jim Hodges. This art object was commissioned in 1998 by Peter Norton for his always highly anticipated annual Family Christmas Project. Over the past 25 years, Norton has collaborated with some of most well known artists in the contemporary art world to create an art edition that was then given as a gift to his friends and business associates. These multiples were usually created in an edition of about 2000. Hodges designed this blanket as an imaginary landscape meant to resemble a body of water, and features a poem-fragment written by Hodges, which reads, “If there had been a pool it would have reflected us.” The blanket is double sided, and Hodges intended the poem to be read in reverse as if the words were reflected in water. It measures 52 x 72 inches, the exact dimensions of the artist’s own bed. This wool blanket was woven by Anichini of Milan, Italy and Vermont, and is in mint condition. It remains sealed in its original silvered sleeve packaging, and comes with the original cardboard box, as well as the description card from the Norton Family. This item will be double boxed, and ships to all US locations via USPS Priority Mail. All foreign locations will ship via eBay International standard delivery.
