Day 183: Mabel

Meet the new addition to the family.
Mabel was rescued at a few days of age, along with 6 siblings and her stray mother, from beneath the church steps in Blyth by a very caring man and his wife, after getting word that the dog catcher was after the stray mother. The Bailey’s raised the pups, and now are looking for homes for her other siblings. The mother, who they are keeping, is a large black mixed breed, father is a black lab. All pups have their first shots, free to a good home. Marshall saw the ad while at the vet’s in Goderich, Ethan heard about the litter one day at work. So we all drove to Blyth to meet the crew. Mike chose the pup who was "black with brindle paws and face". I couldn’t choose – they are all adorable.
Mabel has settled in nicely to life on the Durnin farm. She’s been in the tractor, "helped" me in the garden, and introduced herself to Isabelle, and all the barn cats (we are hopeful that she’ll be able to scare them back from the house to the barn). She has also found the cat food stash in the barn.
Her original family, the Bailey’s, have given all their dogs names that start with "M", hence the name, "Mabel".
